The Hockley County commissioners met Monday to hear an update on delinquent tax collections and to consider and take action on other items, including a policy regarding signage on the courthouse lawn.
The commissioners approved a policy concerning signage on the courthouse premises following a brief discussion.
Larry Carter, commissioner for Precinct No. 2, said it was good for the county to have some type of policy over what people are allowed to attach to trees on the downtown square.
“We’ve had issues for years,” said County Judge Sharla Baldridge. “It doesn’t limit election signs but it gives us some authority to remove things that have not been approved.”
