The city initially opened applications for the small business assistance grant program, Levelland CARES, Tuesday, September 8, but after issues with the email were discovered, the city issued a press release Wednesday announcing it would be restarting the application period, beginning Monday, September 14.
The grants were to be awarded on a first come, first serve, basis among eligible applicants and were to be accepted through September 15 at 5 p.m.
The press release by the city says the email did not work properly in the initial opening of the application, resulting in several applications not being received despite being submitted shortly after the program was intended to open on Tuesday morning.
“At this time, the City of Levelland has worked with its IT provider and the email issues have now been resolved,” the press release said. “The email was inadvertently not active during the initial application period, resulting in early submissions not being received.”
The press release says that in order to give everyone a fair opportunity, the city is beginning the application process over.
Starting Monday, September 14, at 8 a.m., the city will accept applications via the LevellandCARES@levellandtexas.org email and will accept applications through Monday, September 21 at 5 p.m.
“In order to simplify the application process the only item that will be required to be submitted during the initial application period will be the two-page application form,” the press release states. “The remaining documents required for submission during the first attempt will be collected at a later date after the initial application period is over.”
The press release says that any applicants that were able to successfully submit their applications will be asked to resubmit their application in order to be considered.
The city asks applicants to refer to levellandtexas.org /LevellandCARES to find an updated application and guidelines.
