David A. Townsend of Apache Junction, AZ, formerly from Levelland, passed away September 17, 2020, after a short illness. He passed away while under hospice care at the home of his daughter in Gilbert, Arizona.
David was born on May 4, 1953, in Lubbock, to Russell and Delores Townsend.
He attended school in Smyer and Levelland where he graduated in 1971. Upon graduation, David joined the United States Navy.
When he completed his military service, David moved to Arizona in 1975, where he remained for the next 45 years.
A carpenter by trade, David worked for a number of years in a Tract Ministry in Mesa, Arizona.
A devout Christian, David felt a calling early on to be a minister, and faithfully worked for the Lord in many situations over the years.
He was proud of the souls he converted over the years, and his trust and faithfulness in the Lord.
David was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Joseph Galyon; and his beloved German Shepherd, Lady, who passed away in July of this year at the grand old age of 17.
Left to cherish the memory of their beloved brother, father and grandfather are his daughters: Marie Simpson and Chad, of Gilbert, Arizona, Deana Bowland and Will, of Bertram and Samantha Marxer and Miles, of Germany; sisters: Annetta Fincher and Jon, of Gilbert, Arizona, Susan Kauffman and Rhonda Baldridge of Levelland and his brothers: Tim Galyon of Midland and Paul Gaylon and Barbara of Sierra Vista, Arizona. He leaves behind 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at a later date and the memorial service and internment will be at the City of Lubbock Cemetery.
