Funeral services for Roberto “Bobby” Salinas Gutierrez, 64, of Levelland, will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 20, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Jonathan Phillips and Fr. Rene Perez officiating and music provided by Ernesto Fabila.
Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery, under the direction of Head Duarte Funeral Home of Levelland.
Visitation and reflections of life will be held from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, November 19, at Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel.
The reciting of the Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, November 18 and Thursday, November 19, at Head Duarte Funeral Home.
He passed away November 17, 2020, in Austin.
Bobby was born October 3,1956, to Domingo and Rosa Salinas Gutierrez, in Levelland.
He married Diana Duarte August 20, 2005, in Levelland.
Bobby worked for the Texas Department of Transportation and for the City of Levelland as the supervisor of the street and sanitation department for more than 32 years.
He was a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus for four years and Communion Minister at St. Michael’s Catholic Church for many years.
Bobby was the commissioner over the high school soft ball and summer leagues in Levelland for 20 years and he also coached soccer and softball for Bobby James and Roxann “Rodie” Gutierrez.
Bobby loved everybody.
His hobbies were hunting, golfing, fishing, camping and dancing with his favorite girl, Diana.
Bobby was an excellent drummer and his favorite football teams were the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Tech Red Raiders.
He was a loving family man, enjoyed cooking out, barbequing and spending quality time with his family. His family was his passion.
Bobby will be greatly missed by his family and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Domingo and Rosa Gutierrez; and a nephew, Alex Gutierrez.
He is survived by his spouse of 15 years, Diana Duarte Gutierrez of Levelland; daughters: Roxann “Rodie” (Rayonna) Gutierrez of Charleston, South Carolina and Julie Ann Primera of Levelland; Robert “Bobby James” (Brandy) Gutierrez of Austin; sisters: Janie (Joe) Flores, Mary (Johnny) Martinez and Amanda (Abraham) Cuellar all of Levelland and Sylvia (Victor) Torres of Stephenville; brothers: Gilbert (Rosemary) Gutierrez and Albert (Betty) Gutierrez, both of Levelland, David (Vickie) Gutierrez of Victoria and Eddie (Cynthia) Gutierrez of Stephenville; three grand-daughters: Breanna, Baleigh and Bella Gutierrez; and one grandson, Beckum Gutierrez; and a host of nephews and nieces.
