Funeral services for Belia Garza Peña, 86, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, at Saint Michael’s Catholic Church with Fr. Jonathan Phillips officiating and music provided by Joe Flores.
Interment will follow mass at the City of Levelland Cemetery, under the direction of Head Duarte Funeral Home of Levelland.
Visitation and reflections of life will be held Saturday, March 27, from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. and from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Monday, March 29, with the reciting of the Rosary to be held at 7 p.m. Monday.
Belia was born January 13, 1935, to Rudolfo and Martina Garza in Kenedy, Texas.
In 1958, Belia relocated from Kenedy to Sundown where she met Juan Peña.
The couple were married March 2, 1960, in Littlefield. They were married for 42 years before he entered into eternal rest June 4, 2003.
In 1984, the couple and their children settled in Levelland.
Belia enjoyed sewing, caring for her loved ones and traveling to see her family, especially her sisters.
She loved listening to Vicente Fernandez and watching telenovelas.
Her loving presence will be dearly missed and cherished by her family.
She was preceded in death by her spouse; parents; brothers: Oscar Garza, Jesse Garza, Rudy Garza and Reynaldo Garza; and sisters: Selvia Guerrero, Eva Villanueva and Armandina Roriguez.
She is survived by her daughters: Patsy Maxwell of California, Margaret (Benny) Corwin and Terri Peña, both of Levelland, Angela (Chris) Moore of Lubbock and Alicia Peña and Tricia Peña, both of Levelland; sons: Juan “John” (Jessica) Peña of Sugarland, Joe Henry (Maricela Garces) Peña of Levelland, Michael (Samantha) Peña of Fulshear and Rudy (Melanie) Peña of Lubbock; brother, Adan O. (Felicitas) Garza of Sundown; 20 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews.
