Staff took precautionary measures in evacuating staff immediately. The Levelland Police Department, fire department, Hockley County Sheriff’s Department and Covenant Levelland EMS have staged the area.

A perimeter has been set up as a precaution and Avenue H, between 17th Street and FM 300, has been closed in both directions and traffic is being rerouted.

Police ask for everyone to avoid the area.

McDonald said the Lubbock County Bomb Squad is currently en route to the location.

McDonald said law enforcement has begun evacuating area businesses and residences, as well.
