Funeral services for Sammie Grace Baker, 80, of Morton, is scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday, May 7, at First Missionary Baptist Church, with Chris Driver of Whitharral and Rush Coffman of Morton officiating.
Burial will be in Morton Memorial Cemetery, under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home of Morton.
She passed away Monday, May 3, 2021, in Lubbock.
Sammie was born August 10, 1940, to Hershell C. and Agnes Lee Passmore Shakespeare in Portales, New Mexico.
She married Donnye Baker February 14, 1958, in Morton.
Sammie loved being with her family most of all.
She enjoyed playing dominos at the Senior Citizens Center and traveling in her travel trailer with her husband and friends.
Sammie was an excellent seamstress and an avid gardener as well.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; two sisters, Jean Wright and Bootsye Barnes; and one brother, Jimmy Ray Shakespeare.
Sammie is survived by her two sons, Mark Baker and wife, D’Ann, of Whiteface and Wade Baker and wife, Connie Jo, of Morton; two daughters, Tammie Rogers and husband, David, of Denver City and Mitzi Baker Van Winkle and husband, Bob, of Midland; sister, Barbara Autry of Lubbock; brother, H.L. Shakespeare of Levelland; 16 grandchildren: Taryn Parker, Ty Rogers, Trent Rogers, Sally Stewart and husband, Eric; Reese Waltrip and wife, Brie; Andrew Van Winkle and wife, Shannon; Megan Schwingle and husband, Ryan; Lyndi Van Winkle, Sean Parker, Natalie Baker, Nicholus Baker and wife, Melinda; Nolan Baker and wife, Lindsey; Garrett Baker, Peyton Baker, Brandon Eubanks and wife, Angelica; and Stephen Eubanks; and 13 great-grandchildren.
