Eduardo ‘Eddie’ Chavez

Funeral services for Eduardo ‘Eddie’ Chavez, 63, of Levelland will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, July 9, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Fr. Rudy Crasta officiating and music provided by Joe Flores.
Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery, under the direction of Head Duarte Funeral Home of Levelland. Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 6, Wednesday July 7, and from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Thursday, July 8, with the reciting of the Rosary to be held at 7 p.m. at Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel in Levelland.
He passed away July 3, 2021, in Levelland.
Eddie was born November 24, 1957, to Jose Salomon and Orovea Leal Chavez in Weslaco, Texas.
He is a graduate of Whitharral High School Class of 1976.
Eddie worked as a machinist and a welder for Simmons, Trico, Norton Drilling, Musslewhite Trucking and Tomas Ortiz Welding over the years.
He married Isabel Barrera March 28, 1981, in Whitharral.
Eddie’s hobbies included rooster fighting, watching wrestling and football, barbequing and spending time with his rots. His favorite TV show was the 700 Club.
He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and riding on the golf cart with Sugarbear.
Eddie was a life long member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Levelland.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jose Salomon and Orovea Leal Chavez; and a brother, Ramiro Chavez.
He is survived by his spouse of 40 years, Isabel Barrera Chavez; and daughter, Jennifer Marie Chavez, both of Levelland; brothers: Gary (Lilia) Chavez and Luis Chavez, both of Whitharral and Danny (Debbie) Chavez of Lubbock; sisters: Linda (Johnny) Diaz and Elisa (Tony) Rodriguez; and a host of nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers include: Danny Chavez, Luis Chavez, Jamie Chavez, Christopher Chavez, and Joe Anthony Rodriguez.
