David E. Dent

Funeral services for David E. Dent, 52, of Levelland, will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 14, at Austin Street Church of Christ of Levelland with brother Jay Kelly officiating and brother Patrick Lynch assisting.
Interment will follow at City of Levelland Cemetery, under the direction of Head Duarte Funeral Home and staff of Levelland.
Visitations and reflections of life will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, Tuesday, Aug. 10, Wednesday, Aug. 11 and Thursday, Aug. 12, and will continue Friday, Aug. 13, from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. with family receiving friends from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. at Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel.
He passed away August 3, 2021, in Lubbock.
David was born July 16, 1969, to Sammie L., Sr. and Carrie L. Atkins Dent, in Levelland.
He graduated from Levelland High School and continued his education at South Plains College in the Law enforcement program.
David married Glenda Reaves November 18, 1989, in Levelland and they had two children from this union.
He worked for Levelland ISD and Sundown Tubing Inc. as a supervisor and he worked for Monarch Marble Granite for many years.
David loved being involved in softball, basketball and football activities. His favorite teams were the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
David was a true cowboy and enjoyed horseback riding with the Forgotten West Riders Horse Club.
He enjoyed fishing and camping and taking his grandchildren out on outings.
David would continue working even after putting in a full day of work he would go home to mechanic on his friend’s vehicles. He was always happy to help everybody.
His granddaughter, Sophia, was his ‘road dog’ and the apple of his eye. He loved spending time with her as well as his other two grandchildren, Zavian and Brylee; and his niece and nephew, Deshawrenea and Ezekial.
David always supported them and spent quality time with them. In naming a few, it does not take away from the love he had for the for all of his grandkids and nieces and nephews.
David loved his family. He enjoyed spending hours and hours with all of them on special occasions or just everyday gatherings made him happy, as well as the times he spent with his many cousins and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father, Sammie Dent, Sr.; brother, Sammie Dent, Jr.; and two sisters, Mary Lou and Joann Dent.
He is survived by his mother, Carrie Dent of Levelland; spouse, Glenda Reaves Dent of Lubbock;
daughters: Kristen Dent (Karl Flynn) of Lubbock and Roxanna Diaz of Ohio; sons: Justin Dent (Tori Acosta) of Lubbock, Isaac Diaz (Chantel), Michael Diaz (Alexis) and Alex Diaz (Sarah), all three of Levelland and Rosario Diaz, Jr. and Christopher Diaz, both of Ohio; sisters: Dorothy Dent and Valerie Dent (Gary Holland), both of Levelland, sisters-in-law: Sharon Smith of Fayetteville, North Carolina, Maryann Black of Haslet and Sandra Flatt of Louisiana; brothers: Donald (Irma) Dent and Ricky (Terri) Dent, both of Levelland, Larry (Genna) Dent of Mesquite and Curtis E. (Frances) Dent of Brownfield; aunts: Ardella Young of Waco, Wanda Dent and Laverne Howard, both of Lubbock, Eliza Moore of Happy and Minnie Rose Hill-Armstrong of Dallas; uncles, James Dent of Lubbock and Marvin Mitchell of Anton and 15 grandchildren.
Pallbearers include: Curtis D. Dent, Jimmy Moore, Derrail Smith, Rudy Gonzalez, Earnest Franklin and Marcus Dent.
Honorary Pallbearers are: Dwayne Moore, Grant Washington, Willie Jones, Rudy Gonzales, Bobby Washington, Alfred Golightly and Samuel ‘Duke’ Golightly.
