Robert Edwin Burns, Jr., 60, passed away Monday, December 27, 2021.
He was born May 15, 1961, in Tulia, Texas, to Robert Edwin Burns, Sr. and Lila Belle Warren Burns.
Robert was a graduate of Southwestern Assembly of God University with a bachelor’s of Science in Church Ministry, Lubbock Christian University with a masters in theology, Southwestern Assembly of God University with a masters of divinity and was working on his Doctorate in Ministry from Global University. Robert considered himself a lifelong learner and student of the Word.
He received his Assembly of God credentials in 1980, and had been in full-time ministry for 41 years.
During that time he served eight churches in both North Texas and West Texas.
His senior pastorates include: Assembly of God in Johnson City, First Assembly of God in Slaton, Assembly of God in Clarendon, Maranatha Assembly of God in Andrews, First Assembly of God in Levelland and was currently serving at Living Water Fellowship Assembly of God in Whiteface.
Additionally, Robert served as district presbyter in the South Plains section, West Texas district for numerous years.
Robert considered these churches to be his greatest accomplishments.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert Edwin Burns, Sr.; and mother, Lila Belle Warren Burns; as well as his numerous other beloved family members.
Robert is survived by his college sweetheart and the love of his life, Kaylene Fields Burns, his wife of 41 years.
He is also survived by his children, whom he called his “treasures,” Amanda and husband, Aaron Manuel of Blanchard, Oklahoma, Karolyn and husband, Justin Brown of Floydada, Robert Andrew and wife, Rachel Burns of Benton, Arkansas and honorary adopted children, Cole and wife, Katie Flikemma.
Additionally, he is survived by grandchildren: Annalise and Adam Manuel, Sophia, Malcolm, and Simon Brown, Maggie, Robbie and Eleanor Burns and Warren Flikkema; as well as numerous other siblings, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, January 3, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Krestridge Funeral Home in Levelland.
A celebration of life service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at Krestridge Funeral Home, officiated by Rev. Glenn Beaver.
