Funeral services for Jose Antonio Marquez Palacios, 85, of Levelland, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, January 17, at Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel, with Pastor Jesse Rincones officiating. Music provided by Brenda Rincones and Graciela Valenzuela.
Interment will follow in the City of Levelland Cemetery, under the direction of Head Duarte Funeral Home of Levelland.
Visitation will be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. Friday, January 14, and Saturday, January 15, and from 9 a.m. until 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. Sunday, January 16, with prayer service held at 6:30 p.m. at Head Duarte Funeral Home Chapel, with pastor Jesse Rincones officiating.
He passed away January 12, 2022, in Levelland.
Jose was born January 26, 1936, to Manuel and Maria Luisa Marquez, in Santa Rosa, Chih, Chih, Mexico.
He married the love of his life, Benigna Jaquez April 18, 1961, in Santa Rosa and they had eight children from this union.
Jose and Benigna moved to Levelland in 1989, from Chihuahua, Chih, Mexico, where they settled and raised their family.
Jose was a welder and did farming and he worked for Capital Steel Scrap Metals and Iron of Levelland, for more that 25 years.
He loved traveling to Mexico to visit his family, friends and his only living brother Benito.
Jose enjoyed visiting the La Plaza Merino on the Centro of Chihuahua to meet with his long time friends. They would sit on a bench and talk for a awhile and then walk around the town.
Jose was a hard working man who never wanted to quit. He enjoyed working hard at the steel company.
On the weekends, Jose enjoyed going into town to meet with his friends at La Taqueria Restaurant to eat.
He enjoyed spending time at Walmart seating on a bench visiting with friends.
Jose always enjoyed telling jokes, funny stories and always had everyone smiling and laughing.
He was a generous man that loved to help his family.
Jose was a very loving father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a granddaughter, Yaretzi Samantha Marquez; seven brothers: Filiberto, Ramon, Luis, Eliaz, Bartolo, Isabel and Melito Marquez; and two sisters, Concha and Juanita Marquez.
He is survived by his spouse of 61 years, Benigna Jaquez De Marquez of Levelland; daughters: Judith (Mickey) Michaels, Aivilli (Carlo) Carrillo and Yadira Marquez (Jose Catano), all of Levelland; sons: Jorge (Aracely) Marquez of Chihuahua, Rudy (Patricia) Marquez and Omar (Brisa) Marquez, both of Levelland and Hugo (Laura) Marquez and Damian (Ruby) Marquez, both of Lubbock; brother, Benito (Alma Rosa) Marquez of Chihuahua; nephew, Alfredo (Atchalia) Marquez of Levelland; 21 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Pallbearers include: Alfredo Marquez, Jorge Marquez, Rudy Marquez, Omar Marquez, Hugo Marquez and Damian Marquez.
