Robert Troy Skillern

Troy Skillern, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great grandfather passed away March 5, 2022, in Mansfield, Texas, at the age of 80.
Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. Sunday, March 13, at Mansfield Funeral Home with celebration of life service to be held at 2 p.m.
Troy was born Robert Troy Skillern in 1942 in Longview, Texas, to parents Ernest Skillern, Sr. and Willie Lou Anderson.
Troy met and married the love of his life, Hirmma Ann Thompson, in Floydada.
He and Hirmma moved to Levelland in 1964, and raised three beautiful children, James, Troy D. and Lisa.
Troy loved watching his children play sports, hunting, fishing and bowling.
Troy worked for Standard Oil, which later became Amoco, for 23 years until retiring in 1994.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hirmma; his three children: James Skillern (Lisa), Troy Skillern (Michelle) and Lisa Jackson (James); siblings: Ernest Skillern, Jr. (Liz), Lee Toler (Dora), Sandra Washington (Waverly), Calvin Toler (Nannette), Minnie Ross, Elnora Brady Bernard and E.L. Toler; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Gloria Fay Skillern and Frankie Jones; and two brothers, Paul Skillern and Larry Toler, Sr.
