Of all the holidays in the year, the one that is decidedly more than just a day surely must be Thanksgiving.
Thanksgiving is a season, and most appropriately so, the season of fall, with its vibrant colors and invigorating temperatures.
The season of Thanksgiving awakens our senses to a renewed awareness of the beauty of creation and the joy of living.
Early morning, with its crisp coolness, brings a rejuvenating freshness, a lightness to our step, a celebration of life and the goodness of our Creator, God. And we give thanks for a country where freedom and liberties are givens. Commercially, Thanksgiving is but a brief timeout in the rush to Christmas, yet for the thoughtful and contemplative, there is a reason for the season.
We pause to reflect on our nation’s history, God’s amazing grace, the blessings of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
We make every effort to come together as a family. We feast on the goodness of God.
Thanksgiving is more than a holiday; it’s more than any day. It’s an attitude of the heart that’s expressed through our words and the way we live.
Thankfulness is always in a season. As we enter the season of Thanksgiving, may it truly be a time of giving thanks to the One who is above all others and worthy of our highest praise.
