“Falling for the Wallace” Fall Festival set October 5

The Wallace Theater and a collaboration of over 50 civic groups, non-profits, vendors, food trucks, downtown businesses, and 19 sponsors are gearing up for“Falling for the Wallace” Fall Festival.

The festival will be held this Saturday, October 5 from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

“Falling for the Wallace” creates an opportunity for everyone to enjoy downtown in the fall with shopping, live music, art, food, and activities for the whole family. This festival, presented by the Wallace Theater, MainStreet, and Festival Sponsor Smith Auto Family, is about celebrating community and bringing people together in anticipation of the Wallace reopening next year.

Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities that cater to all ages and interests. From shopping at local downtown businesses, browsing through festival booths featuring area artisans, and trying your luck at carnival games hosted by local businesses and civic groups, to enjoying live music and art displays; there is something for everyone to enjoy.

The Wallace Theater will be selling new logo-themed merchandise. Local organizations were encouraged to create fall festival games to raise money for their organizations. Attendees will see school groups from Levelland ISD, Sundown, and South Plains College along with a cake walk presented by Levelland Noon Rotary.

The event was organized by a committee led by Jolenna Carter, Wallace Theater Experience and Operations Director, Nicole Campbell, Stevi Foster, Dean Loehr, Lorie Marquez, Randal Ramirez, and Matt and Katy Rush.

One of the highlights of the festival is the display of artwork from local Hockley County students that will be held at the Brasch-Mitchell Building located at 515 Ave. G. The theme “Loving the Arts” gave students a chance to interpret what art means to them personally and how it has impacted their lives. This broad theme allowed for a wide range of creative expression, from visual arts to literary works, each capturing a unique perspective on the influence and significance of the arts.

When asked why she is part of the festival, Nicole Campbell-General Manager for Smith Auto Family stated, “I’m thrilled to be part of the Falling for the Wallace Fall Festival, an event that truly brings our community together to celebrate the rich artistic talent Hockley County has to offer. The arts have such a profound impact on children, inspiring creativity and critical thinking from a young age. It’s especially important for rural areas like ours to have access to a wide variety of art forms so that we can nurture the next generation of creators and thinkers. This festival is a great opportunity to showcase the power of the arts and bring our wonderful community together!”

Along with the art gallery, the festival will feature a Touch-A-Truck section in partnership with the City of Levelland and Covenant EMS. The Levelland Fire Department will also be hosting its Fire Prevention Day during the festival. Community members are invited out to come and meet the heroes behind these organizations.

The festival will also feature food, entertainment, and a range of family-friendly activities. Kids can participate in arts and crafts, face painting, a pumpkin patch, and games, while adults can explore the various booths and exhibits set up by local artisans and businesses.

The “Falling for the Wallace” Fall Festival is more than just an event for the organizing committee; it’s a testament to the strong sense of community in Levelland and Hockley County. It’s an opportunity for residents to connect, support local businesses, and celebrate each other and the accomplishment of revitalizing the Wallace Theater.

The event is free with booths charging for their carnival activities and items on sale. Community members can lend their support by donating to the Wallace Theater. More details available at www. WallaceTheater. com/ events.
