Hockley County Grand Jury returns indictments

The 286th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced that a Hockley County Grand Jury convened on August 7 and considered cases against 22 individuals.

After presentations by the District Attorney’s Office and law enforcement, the Grand Jury returned 22 indictments.

Michael Sladana, 20, was charged with assaulting a police officer or judge, assaulting a public servant and possession of a controlled substance penalty group two, less than one gram. Bond was issued in an amount of $15,000.

The first count states, on or about May 3 Saldana intentionally caused bodily harm to an individual whom the defendant knew was emergency services personnel providing emergency services.

The second count states Saldana intentionally caused his saliva to contact an individual whom the defendant knew to be a police officer performing an official duty.

The third count states the defendant knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely Delta-8 Tetrahydrocannabinol in the amount of less than one gram.

Lamante Dazel Ty Green, 20, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group two less than one gram. Bond was issued in an amount of $3,500.

On or about June 1, knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely Delta-8 Tetrahydrocannabinol in the amount of less than one gram.

Anna Maria Salinas, 28, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group one less than one gram. Bond was issued in an amount of $2,500.

On or about April 12, Salinas knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount less than one gram.

Maria Guadalupe Lucero, 39, was charged with manufacturing, delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1-B, between four grams and 200 grams in drug-free zone. Bond was issued in an amount of $10,000.

On or about January 9, Lucero knowingly possessed with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount of four grams or more but less than 200 grams. It was further presented that the defendant committed the offense within 1,000 feet of premises owned by the Levelland Independent School District.

Tiffany Powell, 18, was charged with the theft of property between $2,500 and $30,000. Bond was issued in the amount of $7,500.

On or about November 14, 2023, Powell unlawfully appropriated a 2000 Ford Mustang with a value between $2,500 and $30,000, without the effective consent of the owner.

Isiah Morin, 40, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance penalty group one less than one gram. Bond was issued in an amount of $1,000.

On or about May 3, Morin knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount of less than one gram.

An enhancement was provided within the indictment. Prior to the commission of the primary offense, on or about September 20, 2018, the defendant was convicted for the felony offense of evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle in the 286th Judicial District Court of Hockley County.

Guadalupe Martinez, 54, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1-B, between one gram and four grams. Bail was issued in the amount of $3,500.

On or about May 18, Martinez knowingly possessed, with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount of one gram or more but less than four grams.

Mary Lou Zamora, 59, was charged with manufacturing, delivery of a controlled substance penalty group 1-B, between four grams and 200 grams. Bond was issued in the amount of $1,500.

On or about May 1, Zamora knowingly possessed, with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount of four grams or more but less than 200 grams.

Mary Lou Zamora, 59, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1-B, between one gram and four grams. Bond was issued in the amount of $7,500.

On or about November 16, 2023, Zamora knowingly possessed, with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount of one gram or more but less than four grams.

Richard Joseph Lomas, 38, was charged with driving while intoxicated third or more. Bond was issued in the amount of $6,000.

On or about July 12, Lomas operated a motor vehicle in a public place while intoxicated. It was further presented Lomas was convicted of an offense relating to operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, on or about July 20, 2020. Additionally, on or about January 19, 2023, Lomas was convicted of an offense relating to the operating of a motor vehicle while intoxicated.

Jose Louis Ponce, 50, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1-B, less than one gram. Bond was issued in the amount of $1,000.

On or about May 2, Ponce knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount of less than one gram.

Mario Rodriguez, 41, was charged with the burglary of a habitation. Bond was issued in the amount of $25,000.

On or about May 8, Rodriguez entered a habitation with the intent to commit theft.

Virginia Marlene Castle, 48, was charged with the fraudulent use, possession of identifying information with the number of items being less than five. Bond was issued in the amount of $2,500.

On or about April 27, Castle, with the intent to harm or defraud another, possessed less than five items of an individuals identifying information, namely a Visa Debit Card, driver’s license and a Smile One Card.

Joe Alan Shakespeare, 58, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1-B, less than one gram in a drug-free zone. Bond was issued in the amount of $2,500.

On or about April 15, Shakespeare knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount of less than one gram. It was further presented that the defendant committed the offense within 1,000 feet of South Plains College.

Corina Castro Cantu, 51, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1-B, less than one gram. Bond was issued in the amount of $5,000.

On or about May 9, Cantu knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount of less than one gram. Bond was issued in the amount of $5,000.

Armando Valderas Delgado Jr., was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1-B, between one gram and four grams in a drug-free zone.

On or about May 6, the defendant knowingly possessed with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount of one gram but less than four grams.

Linda Martinez, 22, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1-B, between one gram and four grams in a drug-free zone. Bond was issued in the amount of $10,000.

On or about May 6, Martinez knowingly possessed with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount of one gram but less than four grams.

James Henry Cavasos, 35, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1-B, less than one gram. Bond was issued in the amount of $2,500.

On or about April 21, Cavasos knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount less than one gram.

Evonne Reyes Morin, 47, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1-B, less than one gram. Bond was issued in the amount of $5,000.

On or about May 9, Morin knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount less than one gram.

Ruben Torres, 26, was charged for evading arrest, detention with a vehicle. Bond was issued in the amount of $4,000.

On or about November 23, 2023, Torres intentionally fled from a peace officer who was trying to lawfully detain the defendant while using a vehicle.

Miguel Jacquez Garcia, 66, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1-B, less than one gram in a drug-free zone. Bond was issued in the amount of $4,000.

On or about January 3, Garcia knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount less than one gram.

Joseph Ryan Olivas, 37, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group 1-B, less than one gram in a drug-free zone. Bond was issued in the amount of $5,500.

On or about January 9, Olivas knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine in an amount less than one gram.
