Ancient Earth Art Gallery now open

Ancient Earth Art Gallery which is owned and operated by Helene Griffith recently opened as of August 10 and is located at 608 Avenue H in downtown Levelland.

Originally form New York, Griffith found herself living in Canada for 20 years while running an art school. Eventually she would sell the art school and move to Alaska. While in Alaska, she would live with the native people and learn their customs and way of living. While taking in what the native culture had to offer, she would begin to express those ideals through her own artwork.

When drawing or sculpting, Griffith likes to express the spirit of her work along with other aspects such as health and wellness.

When the decision was made to look for open space to provide a gallery, energy was one of the top priorities for Griffith. Having traveled through much of the area nothing provided that overall positive feeling. It wasn’t until Levelland was mentioned multiple times that she decided to visit the town and look for open space.

Levelland provided the good energy she needed to set up shop. One reason that pushed her to pursue her own gallery is providing a space for artists to hold their own gallery’s without huge waiting lists and expensive pricing.

“I want to provide artists with the opportunity to express themselves without having to jump through hoops,” said Griffith. “That is their expression and who they are.”

As the gallery serves as a creative outlet, Griffith offers classes such as clay sculpting, intuitive drawing, intuitive painting. Other services provided include med bed relaxation therapy, ear candling and Ancient Earth Mud Facial Therapy. With those additional services, Griffith has the desire to provide relaxing environment within her gallery.

“I want to provide the option for people who want to come in before class and have coffee or tea to relax,” said Griffith. “Coming here to the gallery is an experience that allows people to come here to loosen up and have fun.”

While prices are listed outside of the gallery, Griffith explained that her operation is not about the money. With the goal of creating a positive and fun experience, classes are moderately priced and if the prices are still an issue Griffith encourages those to call or visit the gallery to see what can be done.
