The Levelland Police Department has been doing their part to bring Christmas cheer to the community from parades to the upcoming Blue Santa events.
LPD police officers joined in the SPC campus lighting event this past Thursday insuring safety and also visiting with attendees as they shared hot chocolate, Santa Claus, the Grinch and lots of holiday music provided by singers and musicians.
Officers helped fill the Lights parade with flashing patrol lights and sirens and a welcome presence at the downtown event as residents enjoyed food, games and Santa Claus on a very chilly night as the city kicked things off for the Christmas holidays.
Additionally, the LPD has their Blue Santa event scheduled for Dec. 13. First responders will pick children up from their homes and be treated to breakfast and shopping.
Blue Santa and Love Levelland’s Christmas Adoption program has offered qualifying families the opportunity to participate in the special event. Families at or below 200% FPL or receiving SSI, SNAP, TANF, or Medicaid among others were qualified to submit applications. The deadline for applciations was November 24.
Breakfast will be held at the Levelland Fire Department at 8 a.m., with LPD assisted by the Levelland Noon Lions Club.
Following breakfast, LPD will be taking youth on a Christmas shopping spree at Walmart.
