The Levelland City Council held a regular meeting on May 4.
The council received and approved the Quarterly Financial Report for the quarter ending on March 31. Concerning the Canadian River Municipal Water Authority (CRMWA) the council approved a memorandum of understanding between the Authority and its member cities. Levelland is a member city of the CRMWA, which provides roughly half of the city’s water through a longterm supply contract, primarily utilizing water from Lake Meredith and the Ogallala Aquifer in Roberts County.
The council approved Ordinance No. 1115 adopting local amendment to Appendix AQ of the 2021 International Residential Code defining a tiny home as a dwelling that is 600 square feet or less on a second reading.
A public hearing was conducted regarding Ordinance No. 1116 amending Article 9.500 Zoning Regulations of the city ordinances, 1997, to establish a new comprehensive zoning ordinance and zoning map in accordance with Chapter 211 of the Local Government Code and City of Levellland Comprehensive Plan. No action was taken since the Planning and Zoning Commission tabled the item until May 11.
City Manager Jame Fisher presented staff and projects, recognitions and other items of community interest.
