The Levelland City Council and Levelland Community Development Corporation (LCDC) have set two separate public hearings to get input from citizens on a proposed $635,000 project for improvements and purchases at Brashear and Lobo lakes, the Pickleball Complex, Oxy Sports Complex and the City Park Barty Johnson field.
The LCDC hearing will be held on Oct. 21 at City Hall at 6 p.m.; and the City Council meeting is scheduled for Nov. 3 at 6 p.m.
The Levelland Community Development Corporation (LCDC), which is funded by a ¼ cent of the Sales and Uses Tax received within the city, has an estimated reserve of $1,260,000.
The project would include playground resurfacing at Brashear Lake ($30,000); fountains at Lobo and Brashear lakes for water quality and aesthetics ($30,000); and trail extension and overlook swing at Lobo Lake ($25,000).
Other expenditures are Phase 2 of the Pickleball Complex which includes a shade structure, benches, trash cans and surface painting ($25,000); picnic tables and shade structures at the Oxy Sports Complex ($15,000); and a new entry sign at Oxy Sports Complex ($15,000).
Additional expenditures include improvements at City Field F for lighting, fencing , irrigation and field materials ($320,000); renovation of the Church League Field at City Park for infield expansion and installation of moveable pitching mound ($25,000); and City Park Barty Johnson field fencing irrigation, field materials and demolition of building ($150,000).
