The Inspections Department is comprised of two professionals who provide routine permitting and inspection activities related to construction, public health, life, safety, and property compliance through the enforcement of adopted building codes, city ordinances, and state laws.
The department also promotes planned development through the administration of the Land Use ordinance.
The activities involved in providing these services include: o Inspecting residential, commercial, and industrial construction to make sure that it complies with the international building, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical codes o Providing staff support services for the Planning and Zoning Commission, the Zoning Board of Adjustments, and the Housing Standards Commission as they review issues relating to zoning, platting, variances, special use permits, and substandard structures o Inspection of nuisance matters such as violations of high weeds and waste material, junked vehicles, public nuisances, substandard buildings and dwellings, unsecure swimming pools to reduce the hazards to public health created by these conditions o Food establishment inspections, including mobile food units L-R: Administrative Assistant Dina Gaona, and Building Official Eli Colunga
