As I take my early morning walks, I am impressed by the vivid colors that Fall displays, overshadowing the best efforts of other seasons. Magnificent red oaks are resplendent in scarlet, orange and rust, while pear trees show off their deep reds, oranges and yellows. Here and there pansies’ colorful faces smile brightly, as though taunting winter’s early frost.
My holly bushes are sprinkled with bright red berries amongst the leaves of green. Geraniums continue in full bloom. There’s a boldness in autumn’s fashions, as though the Creator saved His best for last, before winter’s sleep begins. So it is with humans as well. Those qualities of life that show us at our best, having been developed over a lifetime, are revealed in our latter years. We have learned to be more patient, more kind and understanding, more thankful. We can be cheerful despite pain. We greet each day as a gift, with thankfulness and trust that there are blessings yet to come.
I appreciate all the morewith added years-Fall’s fashion show. It encourages me to dress in my best, character wise, and enjoy to the fullest each day, having a thankful heart to the one who designed it to be so.
