Fire Department Report

Dec. 17

Fire Department dispatched to College and 3rd St. for multiple accident report. Upon arrival there were two disabled vehicle in roadway and parking lot. Secured area and assisted with traffic control until wreckers removed both vehicles and debris. Units cleared the scene and returned to station.

Dec. 18

Fire Department dispatched to Hwy.114 and Alamo Road for multiplevehicle accident. Upon arrival, crew found three vehicles involved and no life threatening injuries or entrapments. Assisted EMS with patient assessment and worked traffic control and assisted with loading vehicles on wreckers. Once scene was cleared, units returned to station.

Fire Department dispatched to the 300 block of SW 6th St. in Morton to assist Morton FD with structure fire. Whiteface FD also responded to assist. The fire was brought under control following sustained defensive operations. Crews remained on scene for overhaul and hot spot mitigation to ensure full extinguishment. No injuries were reported. Once scene was stabilized and deemed safe, crews returned to station.

Fire Department dispatched to the 6700 block of Ellis for a report of smoke detectors sounding inside the home, Upon arrival, fire personnel made contact with the homeowner and confirmed that multiple smoke detectors were actively alarming. After further inspection, the cause of the smoke detector activation was determined to be low batteries. Fire personnel advised the homeowner of the findings and recommended replacing the batteries immediately. The scene was cleared and units returned to station.

Dec. 19

Fire Department dispatched to the 1200 Block of Ave C to a report of a carbon monoxide alarm at a residence. Upon arrival, crews made contact with the occupant and initiated an investigation using department-issued atmospheric monitoring equipment. Initial readings indicated elevated carbon monoxide levels measuring 135 parts per million (PPM). ATMOS Energy was contacted to respond and investigate the source of the elevated readings. Crew maintained scene safety until Atmos arrived. The scene was cleared and units returned to station.

Dec. 20

Fire Department E8 dispatched to Hwy 114 and N. Cedar for a single vehicle rollover. Crew arrived on scene to find the vehicle in the ditch with two occupants sitting on the tailgate. Crew diverted traffic until E6 arrived. While on scene, crew was advised that a tire hit her car in a the parking lot and hit some power lines. Units assessed the lines and determined that they were communication lines. Units were cleared and returned to station.

Dec. 23

Fire Department E8 dispatched to Hwy114 and N Cedar to a motor vehicle accident with injuries. EMS and LPD was also dispatched. Upon arrival, fire crew observed two vehicles with minor to moderate damage in the outside lane of highway. EMS attended to one vehicle occupant. No other injuries were reported. Crew assisted with traffic control until wreckers removed vehicles. LPD released fire personnel and unit returned to station.

Dec. 24

Fire Department R4, B14 and E6 dispatched to a reported two-vehicle accident at Hwy 385 and FM 1585. Upon arrival, crews found two vehicles involved and positioned to provide scene protection in extreme fog and low visibility. Crew assisted Hockley County Sheriff’s Office on scene and coordinated traffic control and blocked traffic in both directions and high visibility PPE, apparatus lighting was put in place. Once the scene was secured, units were cleared and returned to service.

Fire Department E8 dispatched to the 200 block of Rice for a report of a residential fire alarm. Upon arrival, crews made contact with the occupants and conducted a thorough investigation of the residence. And found no hazardous conditions and activation was determined to be unintentional. The scene was cleared and units returned to station.

Fire Department dispatched to Hwy 114 and Alamo to a two-vehicle accident, with one vehicle on its side and a trapped occupant. Upon arrival, after checking on occupant of vehicle, the windshield was removed and the occupant was able to exit the vehicle and be checked by EMS. After the wrecker arrived, crew assisted with cleanup and turned the vehicle over. Scene was cleared and units returned to station.

Fire Department dispatched to the 1800 block of Ave I to a report of a fire behind the location. Upon arrival, units found a rubbish fire in an alley that had already been extinguished. Units sprayed down the area and returned to the station.

Dec. 26

Fire Department dispatched to the 400 block of College Ave. to reports of carbon monoxide at a residence and a resident complaining of carbon monoxide-related sickness. EMS checked the lady out at the scene and crew checked the residence for any leak and carbon monoxide was detected. Units cleared the scene and returned to the station.

Fire Department dispatched to 13th St. and Ave. C. Units were enroute to get fuel and encountered an elderly lady walking in the middle of the road and pulled over to make contact. Upon contact, the woman appeared lost and confused; EMS and LPD were called to assist. After being checked out, the woman was returned to the appropriate residence. Units cleared the scene and returned to station.

Fire Department dispatched to Hwy 84 and CR 1600 to assist Shallowater FD with a grassfire south of Anton. While enroute, units made contact with Hockley County dispatch and Lubbock County dispatch. Fire department personnel checked the area and were unable to locate the reported fire and were cleared from the scene to return to station.

Dec. 28

Fire Department dispatched to Jackson St. and Texas Ave. on a report of a fire in a back yard. Upon arrival, a small fire was located in a fire pit and home owner advised they would extinguish the fire. Units cleared the scene and returned to station.

Dec. 29

Fire Department B14 and T3 dispatched to the 500 block of Maple, for a report of white smoke coming from a warehouse north entrance. Upon arrival, fire crew observed moderate white smoke. Compress employees were on site with a firefighting skid attempting to extinguish multiple small bales of cotton on fire. Warehouse fire sprinkler system had activated and was applying continuous water on cotton bales. Fire crew initiated suppression with a handline and water supply from T3. Once majority of fire was knocked down, forklifts were utilized by compress employees to remove all smoldering bales outside to a safe location where fire crew assisted in extinguishing smoldering bales inside and outside for duration of call. Once all bales were extinguished, fire crews cleared the scene and returned to station.

Dec. 30

Fire Department dispatched to the 100 block of CM Sanders for a report of smoke. Upon arrival, crew observed no fire or smoke. After walking the outside perimeter of the building, a haze was noticed. Crew used a thermal imaging camera to investigate and determined the heater was exhausting and causing it to look like smoke. All temperatures were in normal ranges. Crew cleared the scene and returned to station.
