Fire Department Report

March 27

Fire Department was dispatched to the intersection of Equalizer and Hard Hat Road regarding a fire. Upon arrival, crew found a pile of railroad ties were on fire in an unattended small pit. Crew extinguished the fire, soaked the area down and secured the area. Units cleared the scene and returned to station.

March 28

Fire Department was to the100 Block of Flint to assist EMS with lifting a patient. Upon arrival, the patient was in the living room and crew assisted with loading into ambulance. Scene was cleared and unit returned to station.

Fire Department dispatched to the 1600 block of Austin St. regarding a gas smell in the residence. Upon arrival, crew ran the tri-gas monitor throughout the residence, and no elevated levels of carbon monoxide were detected. Units cleared the scene and returned to station.

March 29

Fire Department was dispatched to the 200 block of 12th St. to assist EMS in unlocking door to gain entry into residence. Crew was notified that EMS had gained entry and unit returned to station.

Fire Department was dispatched to the 400 block of E. Hwy 114 to assist LPD for a citizen who had locked keys and diabetic medications inside a vehicle. Crew was unable to unlock vehicle using door trim extraction tool and was cleared from scene. Unit returned to station.

March 30

Fire Department dispatched to the 3000 block of FM300 regarding a motor vehicle accident involving two vehicles . Upon arrival, crew observed both drivers out of the vehicle walking around and one car out of the roadway. Fire crew assisted with traffic control while HCSO deputies gathered information and a tow truck arrived on scene. Crew was cleared from scene to return to station.

Fire Department E-6 and C-2 were dispatched to east of Capital Farm Credit Business on E Hwy 114 to assist LPD officers with traffic control for the Whataburger opening. Crew was later cleared and returned to station.

Fire Department was dispatched to the 1500 block of Ave. C regarding a smell of gas. Crew arrived on scene and investigated the are and found no gas in or near and the building was deemed safe. Units cleared the scene and returned to station.

Fire Department was dispatched to the 500 block of E Hwy 114 regarding smoke coming from a building. Upon arrival, crew investigated and found no smoke or fire. Units cleared the scene and returned to station.

Fire Department was dispatched to the 4100 block of Hawk Road regarding a grass fire. Crew investigated area and found no smoke or flames. Ropesville VFD arrived on scene and reported same results. Units returned to station.

Fire Department was dispatched to E. Hwy 114 near Whataburger for traffic control. Crew was later cleared and returned to station.

Fire Department was dispatched to the 400 block of Pine regarding a resident burning trash. Crew entered the alley and found a small fire that the resident was burning a fire in the backyard. Crew explained the no-burn city ordinance and resident extinguished the fire. Scene was cleared and unit returned to station.

March 31

Fire Department B-14 was dispatched to the 1900 block of West Ave. regarding a suspected gas leak. Upon arrival, the area was investigated for the presence of natural gas or other hazardous gases. No evidence of a gas leak was found. Scene was cleared and unit returned to station.

April 1

Department C-2 was dispatched to the 400 block of E. Hwy 114 regarding a report of a busted sprinkler head. Upon arrival, personnel located an active sprinkler discharging within the building. Crew accessed the sprinkler control system and shut off water flow to the affected zone. After securing the system, crews ensured that the municipal water supply and associated systems were properly restored and stabilized. Scene was cleared and unit returned to station.

Fire Department was paged to the intersection of Hwy 62/82 and Quail Road regarding a grass fire. Crew requested that Smyer VFD, Ropesville VFD and Lubbock County VFD respond. Upon arrival, Smyer and Ropesville fire units were on scene and had the fire extinguished. Levelland units assisted with hot spots. Scene was cleared and units returned to station.

Fire Department was dispatched to the 1800 block of Kelly Road regarding a fire caused by a transformer sparking. Upon arrival, crew found a grass and brush fire under a small shed, and parts of the shed were burning. Fire was extinguished and area secured. Unit returned to station.

April 2

Fire Department C-2 and B-14 were dispatched to the1800 block of Ave I regarding a possible gas leak and the smell of gas present inside the residence. RP advised that the smell of gas was present inside of residence. Crews investigated the scene with gas monitors which did not detect any flammable gas. Units cleared the scene and returned to station.

April 3

Fire Department Fire Marshall was dispatched to the 200 block of Ave. V after being notified that an HCSO deputy was on the scene of a previous fire. Upon arrival, fire marshal made contact with the deputy who was requesting assistance in determining the possible cause of the fire. Fire marshal assisted with investigation.

Fire Department was dispatched to the 200 block of West Ave. regarding a fire alarm. Upon arrival, crew investigated the building and found no smoke or fire and alarm panel showed no activations. Scene was cleared and unit returned to station.

April 4

Fire Department was dispatched to the 6700 block of Trump CT regarding a fire alarm activation. Units were cancelled enroute by alarm company.

Fire Department was dispatched to the 100 block of Cypress regarding an unknown type of fire in the backyard of a residence. Upon arrival, Crew found a small fire in the backyard and homeowner was advised of the no burn city ordinance. Homeowner extinguished fire and the scene was cleared. Units returned to station.
