SPC, Texas Tech alumni assoc. hosts tailgate Sept. 14

The alumni associations of South Plains College and Texas Tech will host a tailgate before Tech’s football game against the University of North Texas on Sept. 14. The tailgate will begin at 8 a.m. at the Frazier Alumni Pavilion on the Tech campus and will remain open throughout the game.

SPC and Tech alumni are invited to celebrate the Dual Alumni Membership Program between the two institutions and get ready for the game with cheerleaders and Terrible Tex. All current program members and those who enroll at the door will receive admission into the Frazier for pregame festivities and a free drink ticket.

“I am excited to make memories with familiar faces and new dual alumni members. This tailgate is one of my favorite events of the year,” Catherine Krueger, SPC assistant director of development and alumni relations, said. “Even if you aren’t going to the game, you can still have fun and cheer on the Red Raiders from the comfort of the Frazier Alumni Pavilion.”

To become a Dual Alumni Member before the tailgate, visit http://bit.ly/dual-alumni. Graduation from either SPC or Tech is not required for membership. For more information about the tailgate, contact Catherine Krueger at 806-7162103.

Points of Light recognizes ordinary people doing extraordinary things to strengthen communities with its Daily Point of Light Award. To boost volunteer engagement this 9/11 Day and beyond, the organization is sharing the story of an honoree who is also a volunteer first responder, along with information about how you can give back to your community.

The events of 9/11 bonded people and communities, and in the days, weeks and months following the attacks, volunteerism surged as people learned what they were capable of accomplishing when they worked together. Points of Light, which is committed to increasing the rate of volunteering, believes that a day of service like 9/11 Day can serve a kick-off to a life of civic engagement. Take Action Plan your day of service now by visiting Points of Light’s Engage platform at pointsoflight.org/volunteer to search a database of hundreds of thousands of in-person and virtual volunteer opportunities.
