Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock announced today he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for April, 10.5 percent more than in April 2025.
Sales tax allocation comparison summary reports present data on monthly local sales and use tax payments to local jurisdictions. These payments represent funds identified for local jurisdictions since the previous month’s distribution. When used with other local indicators, these reports may help indicate present and future economic trends.
In Hockley County, Levelland received $400,080, a 3% increase over the same period in 2025; Opdyke West, $512, a 0.65% increase; Smyer, $6,649, an 18.87% increase; and Sundown, $52,487, a 9.78% increase. Ropesville received $11,423, a decrease of 0.63% from last year.
In Cochran County, Morton saw a big increase of 62.06%, receiving $17,579; and Whiteface also had a big increase of 39.65%, receiving $2,847.
Statewide, cities received $679.4 million, up from last year by 3.8%; and counties received $74 million, an increase of 7.6%. Transit system received $233.8 million, an increase of 4.6%; and special purpose districts, $112.7 million, up by 8.3%.
These allocations are based on sales made in February by businesses that report tax monthly.
