The 286th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced that a Hockley County Grand convened on Aug. 20 returning nine indictments following grand jury..
Jesse Bernal, 28, was charged with unauthorized use of a vehicle. On or about March 17, Bernal, intentionally and knowingly operated a motorpropelled vehicle, namely an automobile, without the effective consent of the owner.
Athan Luis Garza, 20, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance penalty group one less than one gram. On or about July 12, 2024, Garza, intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely Fentanyl, in an amount of less than one gram.
Eloy Vasquez Navarrette, 33, was charged with manufacturing, delivery of a controlled substance penalty ground one more than four grams but less than 200 grams. On or about February 16, Navarrette, knowingly possessed, with intent to deliver, a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in amounts of four grams or more but less than 200 grams.
Prior to the commission of the charged offense on January 11, 2013 in the 143rd District Court of Reeves County, the defendant was convicted of the felony offense of possession with the intent to deliver a controlled substance.
Mikey Orlando Cantu, 26, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group one of less than one gram. On or about February 7, Cantu, intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely cocaine, in an amount of less than one gram.
Randy Dale Garrett, 59, was charged with tampering or fabricating physical evidence with the intent to impair. On or about April 23, Garrett, knowing that an investigation was in progress, namely a traffic stop, altered or destroyed or concealed a controlled substance with intent to impair its verity or legibility or availability as evidence in the investigation.
Garrett was also charged with the possession of a controlled substance penalty group one of less than one gram. On or about April 23, Garrett, intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in an amount of less than one gram.
Timmy Ortiz, 46, was charged with possession of a controlled substance penalty group one of less than one gram. On or about June 3, 2024, Ortiz, intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in an amount of less than one gram.
Joe Angel Luz, 52, was charged with manufacturing, delivery of a controlled substance penalty group one of more than four grams but less than 200 grams. On or about December 20, 2024, Luz, knowingly possessed, with intent to deliver a controlled substance, namely methamphetamine, in an amount of four grams or more but less than 200 grams.
Velma Conde, 34, was charged with arson. On or about May 18, Conde, with intent to damage or destroy a vehicle, started a fire by igniting pieces of mail inside a vehicle, knowing that the vehicle was within the limits of an incorporated city or town.
