LEDC receives TEDC award

The Levelland Economic Development Corporation (LEDC) was the recipient of the Texas Economic Development Council’s (TEDC) 2024 Economic Excellence Recognition Award.

The TEDC announced the recipients of its annual award during their 2025 Winter Conference in Austin, Feb. 28.

The Economic Excellence Recognition program provides recognition to economic development organizations that meet a desired threshold of professionalism.

Recipients qualify for recognition based on training taken by their governing board and, or council as well as the economic development director and professional staff. Certifications, professional memberships and activities, and organizational effectiveness of the economic development staff has also contributed to the standards for qualifications.

“This excellence award is based upon this entire corporation and Council’s leadership for adhering to all the Texas requirements for local government,” said LEDC Director Justin Balderas. “It is really exciting to bring this organization award back to the corporation to recognize the board of directors, the city council and the professional staff that manages these organizations.”

Balderas added that the corporation has been a recipient of the excellence award for the past three years.

Additionally, there were only 72 economic development organizations that were recognized and received the award out of the 700-plus economic organizations that are within the state.
