With all the rain our town has been receiving lately, many of our yards and lots have experienced a surge in growth, not just in grass, but also in weeds. While greenery may seem harmless at first, unchecked growth can quickly become an eyesore, a fire hazard, and even a breeding ground for pests like mosquitoes and rodents.
It’s important to remember that maintaining our lawns, empty lots, and public-facing spaces isn’t just about appearances, it’s about safety and community responsibility. Overgrown vegetation can obstruct sidewalks, reduce visibility for drivers, and contribute to property devaluation. In many cases, it can also violate local ordinances.
I urge our community and property owners to take a moment, especially after these rainy days, to check their yards and make sure grass and weeds are kept under control. A little upkeep goes a long way in keeping our neighborhoods clean, safe, and welcoming for all.
Let’s work together to show pride in our town and ensure it remains a beautiful place for everyone to live.
