The Levelland City Council will be holding a regular meeting Monday, November 18, beginning at 6 p.m. in the council chambers at City Hall.
Agenda items slated for the meeting include: Consider and take necessary action to approve the minutes of the October 21 regular meeting, November 7 special meeting and the November 8 special meeting; Consider and take necessary action to approve a special event application for the “Benefit for Chris Jones”; Consider and take necessary action on Resolution 2024-38 extending the May 29, 2024, Disaster Declaration and continued activation of the Levelland Emergency Management Plan; Consider and take necessary action to authorize staff to initiate competitive procurement for vehicles and equipment included in the FY 2024-2025 Budget; Discussion on the utilization of ARPA funds for the purchase of capital items, studies/analysis and/or other critical items that enhance the public safety, health and welfare of the community; Consider and take necessary take action on the City Charter Amendment process, timeline and City Charter Amendment Committee appointments; Consider and take necessary action to award bids for police vehicles; Discussion on the extension of water services outside the city limits of Levelland; Consider and take necessary action on Ordinance #1085 prohibiting smoking and other use of tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, in and around City buildings; Consider and take necessary action on Ordinance #1086 suspending the December 19, 2024 effective date of Atmos Energy Corp., West Texas Division’s requested rate change to permit the city time to study the request and to establish reasonable rates; approving cooperations with the cities served by Atmos West Texas and authorizing intervention in Atmos West Texas’s requested rate change proceedings before the commission; Hiring Lloyd Gosselink Attorneys and Consulting Services to negotiate with the company and direct any necessary litigation and appeals; Requiring reimbursement of cities’ rate case expenses; finding that the meeting at which this ordinance is passed is open the public as required by law; Requiring notice of this ordinance to the company and legal counsel; Consider and take necessary action on a software/applications policy for the City of Levelland; Consider and take necessary action to approve staff holidays for the 2025 calendar year; Update on the weather incident of May 29, 2024; City Manager Report: Staff Updates, Project Updates, Staff/ Citizen recognition, Items of Community Interest. No action will be taken; Convene into executive session in accordance with Texas Government Code §551.074 to deliberate the appointment, employment, evaluation, duties, discipline, or dismissal of a public officer or employee: (City Manager); Consider and take necessary action to consent to the hiring of Erica O’Bryon for Police Chief. 17. Convene into executive session in accordance with Texas Gov’t Code §551.072 to deliberate the purchase, exchange, lease or value of real property; and Adjournment.
