Levelland Fire Report

3/10/25 - 9 A.M. - HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD received a report of black smoke near Ironman Road and Drill Stem Road. Prior to arrival, a deputy with the HCSO advised there was a small fire in a pit that was unattended. Responding units extinguished the fire upon arrival. All units cleared the scene and returned to the station.

3/10/25 - 8 A.M. - LEVELLAND

The LFD received a report of a small brush fire near Kelly Road and Houston Street. Responding units located a downed power line and a small fire. Contact was made with the oil field representative while the fire was extinguished.

3/9/25 - 9 P.M. - LEVELLAND

LFD units were dispatched to the 500 block of Tim Street in regard to a gas smell. Responding units investigated the area but no smell or other indications were identified.

3/9/25 - 9 P.M. - LEVELLAND

LFD units were dispatched to the intersection of 10th Street and West Avenue in regard to smoke in the area. Responding personnel identified smoke coming from a BBQ pit. Units responding were cleared and returned to the station.

3/7/25 - 8 A.M. - LEVELLAND

The LFD received a report of an alarm going off in the 1400 block of Ellis Street. The station was notified the report was a false alarm and the call was cancelled.

3/5/25 – 9:04 P.M. – HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD received a report of a vehicle fire near U.S. Highway 114 and Hummingbird Road. While LFD crews were in enroute, Smyer VFD arrived on scene and cancelled the responding LFD crews.

3/5/25 – 5:50 P.M. – HOCKLEY COUNTY

LFD crews were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision near the intersection of FM 1585 and Hawk Road. Upon arrival, Smyer VFD was on scene and advised the responding LFD units to return to the station.

3/5/25 – 10:30 A.M. – HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD responded to a medical assist call from Levelland EMS in the 3100 block of FM 300. Upon arrival, the responding personnel performed a lift assist on a patient that needed to be transported.

3/5/25 – 10 A.M. – LEVELLAND

The LFD received a report of a gas odor in the 1300 block of Avenue H. Crews responding were unable to locate a source. Atmos was notified of the situation and sent personnel to the scene to investigate. Fire personnel were cleared and returned to the station.

3/5/25 – 8:43 A.M. – HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD received a report of a one vehicle motor accident near Quail Road and U.S. Highway 114. The LFD had an off-duty firefighter arrive on scene first. The individual provided details to EMS and the responding unit. Once on scene, crews assisted in removing the patient from the vehicle and provided traffic control until the vehicle was able to be removed.

3/4/25 – 3 P.M. – HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD responded to a grass fire near the intersection of U.S. Highway 114 and Gusher Road. While enroute, the department was notified of a heavy amount of smoke coming from north of Highway 114. The LFD requested mutual aid from Sundown VFD and Whiteface VFD due to the weather conditions. Upon arrival, there was an eightacre area burning with flames still visible. Responding units worked to extinguish the flames and hot spots. Roughly 20,000 gallons of water was used to extinguish the grass fire. Following the events all units were cleared and returned to the station.

3/4/25 – 1 P.M. – LEVELLAND

LFD units were dispatched to the 1300 block of Avenue Q in response to a transformer that had fallen and leaked its contents. It was also reported the transformer was pulling down the pole due to the tension and the stretched lines were arching. Excel was contacted while enroute. Upon arrival, the responding units provided traffic control in the area until Excel personnel arrived on scene. Responding units were cleared from the scene without further incident.

3/4/25 – 12:30 P.M. – SMYER

The LFD assisted the Smyer VFD with a structure fire located west of the town. The responding units arrived at the location roughly three minutes prior to Smyer VFD. Upon arrival, the residents had already extinguished the fire. LFD units were released by Smyer VFD and returned to the station.

3/4/25 – 12 P.M. – HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD was dispatched to U.S. Highway 114 and Barton Lane in regard to a motor vehicle accident. The responding units provided traffic control until they were released by TxDOT.
