LISD to relocate LMS 5thgrade to elementary schools

Levelland ISD announced it will be relocating Levelland Middle School fifth-grade students to South and Capitol Elementary beginning in Fall 2026.

The move comes from the Levelland ISD Elementary Reconfiguration Plan initiated to better support students and families and strengthen academic continuity, create smother grade-level transitions and optimize district facilities.

According to LISD, the move comes after extensive discussions among administrators, teachers, and stakeholders, with district officials stating that the shift is designed to create stronger academic and developmental opportunities for students.

LISD leadership and administrative teams met with staff from Levelland Middle School, South Elementary, Capitol Elementary, and the firstgrade team at ABC to develop early plans for the transition.

A public meeting was held on Dec. 8 to get public input and inform parents on the upcoming changes.

South Elementary and Capitol Elementary will be mirror-image schools, offering the same programming and opportunities on each campus.
