Memorial services set for CarrieJo “Jodie” Rawls

CarrieJo “Jodie” Rawls was called home Jan. 12, 2026. She was 84 years old. Jodie was born on Nov. 23, 1941 in Fort Worth, Texas to Carrie and EE Callaway. She spent her early childhood in Houston Texas, where she proudly considered herself to be a “tomboy”, happiest when she was active and outside. When she was ten, her family returned to Fort Worth, where she later graduated from Amon Carter Riverside High School.

At just sixteen years old, Jodie met the love of her life, Aubrey Rawls. Following high school graduation, they both left home to attend college. Jodie studied Elementary Education with a minor in Speech and Drama at McMurry College in Abilene for two years, then briefly attended Brantley Draughon Business College for three months. She and Aubrey were married soon after and began their life together in Commerce, Texas, where Jodie worked as the private secretary to the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at East Texas State. As their family grew, Jodie and Aubrey moved throughout Texas, eventually settling in Levelland and later Lubbock.

Jodie was a vibrant and expressive woman whose joy for life was felt by all who knew her. She was a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend. She found her greatest happiness in time spent with family, especially her grandchildren. She deeply valued her friendships and loved being with people, whether traveling, spending time in Ruidoso, or gathering around a mahjong table. Jodie cherished being with people, and every moment together was marked by warmth and connection.

Jodie was creative at heart and took great pride in making a warm and inviting home. She loved crafting— especially working with wood—and found deep satisfaction in creating things by hand. Throughout her life, she also worked and volunteered faithfully in schools and churches, serving others with joy and dedication.

A strong believer in Christ, Jodie kept God at the center of her life. She has a heart for prayer and encouragement and was constantly lifting up those she loved. Jodie devoted herself wholeheartedly to her children, Randy and Renee, whom she considered her greatest accomplishments. Together in marriage, Jodie and Aubrey shared sixty-two years of steadfast devotion, building a life full of love and cherished memories that will carry on for generations.

Jodie is preceded in death by her Mother, Carrie Callaway, Father, EE Callaway, and her sister, Patricia Neff.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Callaway; her son, Randy Rawls, and his wife, Robin, of Lubbock; her daughter, Renee Bradley, and her husband, Tom, of Provo, Utah; her grandchildren, Hunter Rawls and his wife, Molly, of Midland; Lexie Ricks and her husband, Payten, of Midland; Jessie Stemo and her husband, Nate of Milwaukee; and Josh Bradley and his wife, Alyssa of Provo, Utah; as well as her great grandchildren, Obi, Kai, and Zaide Ricks, and Tru and Ridge Rawls.
