Sheriff’s Office issues scam alert

The Hockley County Sheriff’s Office received a report of someone going by a residence on N. Hwy 385 claiming to be a code enforcement officer and requesting to do an inspection.

The subject was described a black male, middle aged, bald, beard with grey hair and approximately 6’2. He was wearing a dark color polo shirt imprinted with ‘Code Enforcement’ and jeans.

The subject was driving a dark blue Prius sedan.

The Sheriff’s Office said they have not been able to contact the individual and said Hockley County does not have code enforcement officers. The City of Levelland advised it was not their code enforcement officer.

The Sheriff ’s Office urged citizens to remain vigilant and notify law enforcement if contacted by the person by calling the communications center at 806-894-6164 or in an emergency call 911.
