Veterans Day is a federal holiday in the United States observed annually on Nov. 11, for honoring military veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
The holiday has its roots in Armistice Day in 1938, honoring the veterans of World War I. After World War II and the Korean War, its name was changed to Veterans Day to honor veterans of all wars. Today, it serves to express gratitude for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve.
