Whiteface FFA Emma Ayers and Ropes FFA Stratton Schertz received their American FFA Degree this week at the National FFA Convention, the highest degree achievable in the National FFA Organization.
Each were presented with the highest degree attainable at the 98th National FFA Convention held this past week in Indianapolis, Indiana. They are among the less than one percent of FFA students who presented the highest and most exclusive degree in the organization. Both are currently pursuing ag related degrees in college.
American FFA Degree recipients must s a t i s f y r i g o r o u s requirements to reach this milestone, including keeping accurate and detailed records of their Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE), earning and investing specific financial amounts, maintaining good academic records and staying involved at the state, chapter and community level.
Requirements include holding the State FFA Degree, being an active member for at least three years, completing three or more years of agricultural education, and having a successful SAE program. Additionally, a minimum financial requirement of earning at least $10,000 and productively invest $7,500 or invest $2,000 and work 2,250 hours.
They also need to have a strong scholastic record (“C" average or better), a record of outstanding leadership and community involvement, and have completed at least 50 hours of community service.
