Whiteface High School Bhrett Driver recently competed in vocal solo and ensemble at Frenship High School and received a Division 1, qualifying him to compete for Texas State Vocal solo and ensemble in May. Driver sang in Italian and performed Sedden, crudely by Caldara (Sebben, crudele) which is a famous Italian art song (aria) composed by Antonio Caldara (1670– 1736). While the original opera is rarely performed, the aria remains a popular, staple piece for vocal students and concert performers. The 2026 state solo and ensemble contest for all 1A/2A/3A/4A will be held at Lehman HS - Hays CISD in the Austin area on May 23 & May 25. More information can be found at uiltexas.org/music
