Whitharral FFA students had a solid showing at the New Deal LDE Invitational this past week.
The junior/senior team scored a big win and brought home the first-place banner in Senior Chapter Conducting. The event involves teams conducting a mock chapter meeting to demonstrate knowledge of basic parliamentary law and the use of correct parliamentary procedures. At the conclusion of the meeting, team members are asked questions regarding parliamentary law. Members of that team are Hudson Dobrovolny, Bradley Gray, Mady Nickelson, Bryar Sherrill, Kayln Bates, Dillon Johnson and Christian Reina.
The sophomore/Junior team placed second in the same event, with members Rylee Kristenik, Emberly Prowell, Cale Dockery, Sheridan Neal, Cooper Burns and Ashtyn Potter.
The Broadcast team of Rylee Kristinek, Emberly Prowell and Ashtyn Potter placed first in that contest which involves a team of three members presenting an informative radio program covering one or more agricultural subjects that is current in nature and local in content.
Charis Ward placed third in Greenhand Creed Speaking which is a competition for 7th- 9th grade FFA members to memorize and recite the FFA Creed, develop public speaking skills, and answer questions about the creed and agriculture.
Maddy Nickelson placed third in Job Interview. The contest involves seven sections including job description, cover letter, resume, application, telephone interview, personal interview and follow-up letter. Leadership Development Events (LDE) focus on creating situations for members to demonstrate their abilities in public speaking, decision making, communication and their knowledge of agriculture and the FFA organization. Team and individual events are used to reinforce what is taught in agricultural science classrooms.
