Local churches to celebrate Holy Week and Easter

Local churches will be celebrating Easter Sunday, April 5, with services and activities open to anyone who does not have a church home.Church on the Rock of Levelland will be hosting an Easter Sunday service at 9:30 a.m. and an afternoon service at 11:15 a.m.

City’s Centennial Celebration set for April 11

Plans are being finalized for the City of Levelland Centennial Celebration. April 11 will be a day of history, food, entertainment, fireworks, and fun.The celebration will kick off downtown with the Centennial Parade. Parade line-up will begin at 9 a.m. The parade will start at 10:00am.

Castillo sentenced to 60 years

A Levelland man who produced child sexual abuse material was sentenced to 60 years in federal prison, according to a release by U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of Texas Ryan Raybould.Camilo Reyes Castillo, 47, pleaded guilty in October 2025 to seven counts of production of child pornography.

Fire Department Report

March 98 p.m. – Fire department dispatched to the 400 block of Hicks Place regarding a fire under burners of stove. Upon arrival, crew found a 1’” x 1” pile of grease on stope under stove top upon raising the lid. Fire went out upon raising lid. Occupant advised to clean stove before using it again.
