Sip & Swirl begins Friday

The annual Levelland Sip & Swirl event is set for this Friday with tickets currently available for purchase.There are two ticket options (you must be 21 or older to purchase a ticket): VIP ($100) and General Admission ($45).General Admission begins at 6 p.m. and the event lasts until 9:30p.m.

The 286th Judicial District Attorney’s Office announced that a Hockley County Grand Jury convened on September 24 and considered cases against 24 individuals.After presentations by the District Attorney’s Office and law enforcement, the Grand Jury returned 15 indictments.

Hockley County Commissioners approve election items

The Hockley County Commissioners’ Court held a regular meeting on Monday at the Hockley County Courthouse to address election and grant-related items.The meeting agenda included three election-related items, and the first to be approved was the notice of election for the Nov. 5 General Election.

Gov. Abbott launches MBDR loan program

On Wednesday, Governor Greg Abbott announced the opening of the Texas Micro-Business Disaster Recovery (MBDR) Loan Program to facilitate loans from Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) to microbusinesses affected by declared local, state, or federal disasters in Texas.

DPS provides registration reminder

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reminds Texans that changes to the state’s Vehicle Safety Inspection Program – which eliminate most vehicle safety inspections – begin on Jan. 1, 2025.These changes are due to House Bill 3297.

TDEM sends emergency resources to North Carolina

On Thursday, Governor Greg Abbott announced that he directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) to deploy additional emergency response personnel to assist with Hurricane Helene recovery efforts in North Carolina following a request from North Carolina Emergency Management.
