The room was dark but his nose and ears were keen as the widow stirred in her bed. Fingers of light pried aside the curtains and crept across the floor toward his mat. There was nothing else in the room except for one small clay lamp, a limp bag, and a gnarly cane leaning in the corner.

GAS LEAK - The Levelland Fire Department, Levelland and Hockley County Emergency Management, Levelland Police Department and Atmos Energy had personnel responding to a gas leak located on Avenue A between 11th and 12th Street. The line that was found to be leaking was scheduled to be shutoff on Tuesday, Sept. 17. However, with the detection of the leak, the crews shutoff the old line a day ahead of schedule. AG PROFESSIONAL OF THE YEAR - Levelland’s Chamber of Commerce Ag Committee hosted the annual Hockley County Agricultural Appreciation Event on Wednesday at the Mallet Center. Each year, the Ag Committee recognizes an individual who has made a lasting contribution to the agricultural industry.
