Hockley County sets regular meetings Mon.

The Hockley County Commissioners office will be holding a regular meeting followed by a budget workshop Monday, July 8 beginning at 9 a.m. in the Hockley County Courthouse.Agenda items set for the first meeting are: Read for approval the minutes for the regular meeting held at 9 a.m.

State sales tax revenues generated

On Monday, Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar said state sales tax revenue totaled $3.94 billion in June, 0.4 percent more than in June 2023.The majority of June sales tax revenue is based on sales made in May and remitted to the agency in June.

DPS highlights inspection changes

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) reminds Texans of upcoming changes to the state’s Vehicle Safety Inspection Program that will eliminate most vehicle safety inspections.

Railroad Commission launches LoneSTAR project

In significant technological advancements at the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC), the agency has launched State Tracking and Reporting (LoneSTAR), a project that further improves efficiencies at the agency to save time and resources for oil and gas operators as well as RRC staff.

Federal LPP eyes large Muleshoe NWR expansion

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) has finalized a Land Protection Plan (LPP) to expand the Muleshoe National Wildlife Refuge’s (NWR) acquisition boundary to 7 million acres.The boundary encompasses 14 counties in West Texas and five in Eastern New Mexico.
