City of Levelland extends disaster declaration

DESTROYED POWER POLES – One of the bigger issues facing the community of Levelland has been the lack of power due to the Wednesday morning storm. The majority of Levelland was without power following the storm. Excel crews have been working tirelessly around the clock to bring power back to the residents of Levelland. COLLAPSED BUILDINGS – Older buildings throughout Levelland took the brunt of the wind from Wednesday’s storm. Multiple older buildings with little structural rigidity were found collapsed where they once sat or in roadways blown over. DEVASTATING STORM – The Levelland community is recovering after going through a severe thunderstorm early Wednesday morning. Large hail, heavy rain and winds projected between 100-120 miles per hour wreaked havoc for Levelland residents and businesses. Emergency relief efforts have been ongoing since Wednesday.
