FCIC continues fight against fraud

In the two years since it officially opened, the Texas Financial Crimes Intelligence Center (FCIC) prevented $171,516,831 in monetary losses due to fraud in Texas and recovered 445 credit card skimmers and 5,574 fraudulent credit cards.

1/7/2024 - DISPATCHED 2:05 P.M. - CLEARED 2:15 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call from LPD stating that a resident within the 100 block of Flint Avenue heard the stove clicking and ran outside.

1/7/2024 - 100 block of Poplar Street - 1:23 A.M. Multiple officers with the LPD responded to a resident to the area in reference to a possible disturbance. The suspect was intoxicated walking around the 800 block of Denver. The suspect was apprehended and taken to the Hockley County Jail.

Texas Health raises awareness during National Cervical Month

As part of National Cervical Health Awareness Month this January, the Texas Health and Human Services Commission is encouraging women to get screened for cervical cancer. Cervical cancer is the thirdleading cancer diagnosis for women ages 20-39 and fifthleading for women ages 40-49.

Texas cold case solved through CODIS

A nearly two-decades old cold case has been solved thanks to the hard work and dedication of the Texas Rangers and local law enforcement. Last month, the 35th Judicial District Court of Mills County convicted Jessie Rodriquez, 41, of attempted aggravated sexual assault, a second-degree felony.

Chamber monthly schedule released

The Levelland Chamber of Commerce has listed several meetings for the month of January. Keep Levelland Beautiful Beautification and Community Improvement, Litter Prevention and Clean-up Committee meeting is set for January 12, from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. The meeting will be at the chamber of commerce.
