Mother’s Day on May 10

Mother’s Day is a national holiday in the U.S. that honors mothers, dating back to the early 1900s. This year's Mother’s Day will take place on May 10.Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis, who sought to create a day in recognition of the sacrifices and influence of mothers.

Texas summer camps struggle for licenses

For parents planning to send their children to summer camp, many may be out of luck.According to the DSHS’s database of active youth summer camps, only nine camps have gotten an updated license for 2026, with another 243 having applied but not yet receiving approval.
REA SCHOLARSHIPS-- The Ropes Eagles Association (REA) awarded two scholarships to graduating seniors. Carson Beck, who will be attending Texas Tech University to study Occupational Therapy, and Brayden Saldivar will be attending Kansas State University to study Athletic Training. In addition, REA donated $15,000 to Ropes ISD to support the new elementary playground project. (Ropes ISD photo)
