BUSY EVENING FIGHTING FIRES - The Levelland Fire Department responded to two structure fire calls Thursday evening. At 7:41 pm, crews responded to a structure fire in the 600 block of Koala Road, where heavy smoke was emanating from the breaker box. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke, with the main area of fire concentrated in the living area of the home. Smoke damage affected the remainder of the home. The Red Cross assisted the displaced family, and no injuries were reported. At 9:07 pm, a second structure fire was reported in the 1500 block of 10th Street, involving a large detached two-car garage adjacent to a residence. Crews arrived to find heavy smoke and fire, with a substantial content load in the garage. Crews spent an extended period salvaging and overhauling the area. Fortunately, no injuries occurred.
