- On Friday, the Levelland Fire Department (LFD) responded to the 100 block of Avenue N in reference to a structure fire, around 9:30 p.m. The responding units observed intense flames engulfing the north side of the home. As firefighters began to extinguish the blaze, heavy fire also started emanating from the west side of the home. A rapid knockdown was successfully achieved. LFD units remained on scene to conduct hot spot checks and overhaul. Initial reports from the LFD indicate the fire originated from a possible cooking oil fire on the kitchen stove. No human injuries were reported, but a cat and a dog were lost in the fire. (Staff photo by Dom Puente)
