Levelland Fire Report

4/13/25 - 9:30 P.M. - LEVELLAND

The LFD received a call regarding a gas odor at a building in the 1500 block of Fifth Street.. The interior and exterior of the building was checked but there were no signs of gas detection.

4/13/25 - 9 P.M. - LEVELLAND

The LFD received a call regarding a gas odor at a residence in the 500 block of W. Jefferson. The interior and exterior of the residence was checked but there were no signs of gas detection.

4/13/25 - 8:30 P.M. - LEVELLAND

The LFD received a call referencing a gas odor at a residence in the 1200 block of First Street. Both the interior and the exterior of the home were checked. There was no gas detection.

4/13/25 - 10 A.M. - LEVELLAND

The LFD responded to a fire alarm in the 100 block of Detroit. Upon arrival, no fire was showing and was advised the residents were cooking and activated the alarm. Fire department personnel re-set the alarm. All personnel cleared the scene and returned to the station.

4/12/25 - 3:30 P.M. - LEVELLAND

The LFD was dispatched to a person burning a tree stump in their yard in the 200 block of Tanglewood. Upon arrival, there was a large tree stump with visible flames. The responding fire personnel advised the homeowner that it was unlawful to openly burn inside the city limits. The homeowner expressed they were unaware since it was wood but would extinguish the stump. Fire personnel helped to extinguish the stump and cleared the scene.

4/11/25 - 11 A.M. - LEVELLAND

The LFD received a call in reference to a fire in the backyard of a residence in the 2000 block of Tech Drive. Upon arrival, the responding unit met with LPD officers in the alley behind the reported residence. A resident had been burning trash and debris in a partially enclosed metal pit in the backyard. The resident stated that he would no longer burn and would self-extinguish the smoldering debris.

4/11/25 - 4:30 A.M. - LEVELLAND

The LFD received a call of a fire alarm activation near the 1400 block of E. Ellis Street. Upon arrival, Levelland PD officers and maintenance personnel were on scene. Maintenance personnel advised that no fire had occurred and the alarm system was displaying a normal status. All facilities on location were checked by fire personnel. There were no signs of smoke or fire found.

4/9/25 - 6 P.M. - LEVELLAND

LFD units were dispatched to the 300 block of Flint in reference to a carbon monoxide detector activation. Fire personnel detected an odor at the residence prompting Atmos to be contacted. While waiting for an Atmos representative, fire personnel used a tri-gas monitor through the residence and detected elevated carbon monoxide levels. The windows and doors to the home were opened to vent the residence. The gas was shut off by fire personnel.

4/7/25 - 1 P.M. - LEVELLAND

The LFD received a call reporting a gas meter that had been struck near the 600 block of Austin. Upon arrival, the meter looked to be hit by a dumpster when the truck was setting it down. A crescent wrench was used to close the gas valve to stop the leak. The homeowner and the gas company were advised the gas had been shut off.

4/5/25 - 10 P.M. - LEVELLAND

Dispatch informed the LFD of a report of a gas smell near the 1000 block of S. College Avenue. Once on scene, fire personnel noticed a sewer smell but could not locate the gas smell. Monitoring equipment was used but no gas was detected. The owner was advised to contact a plumber.

4/4/25 - 11 P.M. - HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD received a report of a pole on fire near Sampson Post Road and FM 300. Upon arrival, the pole was found to be broken in half and on fire. Xcel was contacted and instructed to shut off the power. The fire was extinguished before returning to the station.

4/4/25 - 6:30 A.M. - HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD was dispatched to the intersection of U.S. Highway 114 and Owl Road in regard to a one vehicle rollover. While enroute, dispatch advised that the Smyer VFD was also responding to the call. Upon arrival, LFD personnel assisted Smyer fire with extricating the patient and loading into the ambulance. Once the patient was loaded all Levelland personnel cleared the scene and returned to the station.

4/1/25 - 3 P.M. - HOCKLEY COUNTY

The LFD received a report of a grass fire near FM 168 and FM 1585. The LFD requested water assistance and advised dispatch to contact Smyer VFD since the reported fire was in their district. Upon arrival and after investigation, the fire was out on arrival and the LFD extinguished the fire. Water assistance was cancelled. The LFD then finished hitting hot spots and returned to the station.

4/1/25 - 8:30 A.M. - LEVELLAND

The LFD received a call reporting a fire alarm pull station. The department contacted dispatch and was advised fire alarm testing was being conducted.
