“Arise, O LORD, in Your anger; lift yourself up because of the rage of my enemies; rise up for me to the judgment You have commanded! So the congregation of the peoples shall surround You; for their sakes, therefore return on high. The LORD shall judge the peoples, judge me, O LORD, according to my righteousness, and according to my integrity within me.” Psalm 7:6-8 The psalmist must have been thoroughly convinced that the LORD would judge in righteousness in order that he would ask the LORD to arise in His anger. You do not want an unrighteous judge’s anger. For the sakes of the people the LORD’s “return” is requested, even if it meant judgment.
The psalmist is hopeful that the LORD will see his desire to conform himself to the will of the LORD in righteousness and integrity (all of grace) and judge him accordingly.
Because the righteousness of Jesus Christ was delivered to my account upon receiving Him as Saviour, I will not know judgment but just the corrective hand of a loving Father. May my desire be to walk in His will always, by His grace and for His glory.
