Lucky the Lobo gets a fresh new look

Courtesy of the College Avenue Animal Clinic, Levelland ISD (LISD) will be showing off a new Lucky Lobo suit for this school year.

On August 5, the clinic posted a video on their Facebook page unveiling a new mascot suit for Lucky Lobo.

Kirstie Middleton is a veterinarian at the College Avenue Animal Clinic, where she has worked on and off since she was 16 years old. She officially took over College Avenue this year. Middleton was born and raised in Levelland and graduated from Levelland High School in 2009. She was a cheerleader and Lucky the mascot for a little bit as well.

Middleton went to a Rotary meeting and overheard some cheerleaders talking about fundraising to get a new Lucky suit because the old suit was really worn out.

“I kind of went home and thought well that’s a cute idea, we’re a vet clinic and Lucky is an animal and that would be a cute concept,” Middleton said. “Like he could come in and we could fix him up.”

Middleton contacted the cheer director and found out they had already ordered a new suit. Seeing that the cheerleaders were also raising money for new uniforms Middleton decided to reimburse them for the purchase of the suit.

Thinking more and more about how to do a cute first look at the new suit, Middleton contacted high school student Joseph West.

“His dad owns the auto dealership print tent in town and he reached out saying if you needed anything Joseph would love to help,” Middleton said. “So we thought it would be a cute idea to let the cheerleaders loose and make a cut video.”

Middleton expressed that she did not intend for the video to get so much attention.

“I’m excited that they’re excited but I would like to keep doing stuff like this to give back to the community,” Middleton said.
