The First Methodist Church will be holding two support group beginning Sept. 2 for community members who are facing separation, divorce or the loss of a loved one.
Divorce Care is a divorce recovery seminar for recently separated or divorced individuals. It is a video seminar series featuring some of the nation’s foremost experts on divorce and recovery topics. The video seminars are combines with support group discussion of the material presented during the video. It will begin Sept. 2 and meetings will be held every Tuesday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall at the First Methodist Church located at 1011 Houston.
Childcare up to fifth grade aged children will be available for participants. Community members are encouraged to call the church office at 806-894-6159 to reserve childcare.
With several individuals taking part in the seminar, the group leaders have the painful process of divorce. Additionally, volunteers assisting with the seminar include Orlando Sandoval and Mylinda Massey.
Griefshare is an additional support group available which provides healing and hope. The group will also take place at the First Methodist Church beginning Sept. 2. The group will meet every Tuesday form 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. It is a special weekly seminar and support group format.
The group is designed to help individuals rebuild their life after losing a loved one. Volunteer leaders for this group include Lavon Sandoval, Jackie Bush, Balch Johnson and Teresa Porras.
